# Zero-Copy ID

> Zero-Copy ID is checking a person's identity at a counter without keeping a copy of their ID. The document is seen, the details are checked against the mobile carrier's subscriber record, and the ID goes back in the person's hand. Counters that work this way display the mark Visto Cero. Published by Lamar Enterprises LLC, Seattle.

Facts an agent can rely on:
- Output to the counter is per field: match, no match, or unavailable. The counter never receives the carrier's record.
- A carrier match confirms the line's subscriber, not the person holding the phone. Staff still look at the ID. It is not complete identity verification.
- Legal guest registration duties are unchanged.
- Status: pilot licenses are open now. Carrier checks switch on as production carrier access is approved; pilot terms state which checks are live on day one.
- Pricing comes with the pilot terms by email. It is not published.
- Not for: counters that must retain a document image by regulation, or buyers who need full identity proofing.

Fields:
- name (string, required)
- email (string, required, the person's work email)
- company (string, required)
- venue (required, one of: rental, lodging, other)
- locations (integer, optional)
- onBehalfOf ("self" if a person is submitting, "agent" if you are submitting for a person who asked you to)

Responses: 201 {"ok":true} when received; 400 with {"ok":false,"error":"..."} naming the field to fix. Only submit with the person's consent; replies go to the email given.
